2009 Record: 13-1 SEC Record: 8-0 2010 Returning Starters: 15: 6 Offense, 7 Defense, Kicker, Punter

Coach: Urban Meyer At Florida: 57-10. 5years

Offensive Coordinators: Steve Addazlo Defensive Coordinators: Teryl Austin

2010 Florida Players to Watch: QB John Brantley, RB Jeff Demps, RB/WR Chris Rainey, WR Deonte Thompson, DE Justin Trattou, CB Janorls Jenkins, S Ahmad Black, S Will Hill

2010 Florida Strengths:
The Gators will have no trouble running the ball behind aveteran line, and Demps Is atouchdown threat every time he touches the ball. Emmanuel Moody and Mike Gilllslee are tough inside runners. There Is plenty of speed In the secondary, which will be the defense’s strength.

2010 Florida Weaknesses:
Other than Thompson, there are no proven receivers. What about a pass rush? Defensive ends Carlos Dunlap and Jermaine Cunningham are gone, and Trattou and Duke Lemmens won’t have the same kind of production. It may have to come from the linebackers.

2010 Florida Offense:

Nobody has bigger shoes to fill than quarterback John Brantley. All he has to do is replace one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He’s the prototypical pro-style quarterback: 6-3, 218 pounds with a big arm and the ability to make every throw. Running back Jeff Demps has been a big-play machine and has averaged 7.6 yards on his 177 career carries. When healthy, Emmanuel Moody is a tough runner (1,254 yards and five touchdowns in his collegiate career). Mike Gillislee had a good spring and showed he can run inside. Deonte Thompson (42 career catches) is UF’s only proven receiver. Carl Moore is coming off a back injury that cost him the 2009 season, but he caught eight passes in the spring game. Chris Rainey moved from running back to slot receiver, and Andre Debose is coming off a hamstring injury that kept him from playing last season. Jordan Reed is the projected starter at tight end and also will get some work in the Wildcat.

2010 Florida Defense:

The linebackers aren’t huge, but they are athletic and have plenty of speed. The projected starter in the middle is Jelani Jenkins, who at 6-0, 220 is the smallest linebacker on the roster. Brandon Hicks, A.J. Jones, Jon Bostic and Jenkins highlight a rotation of players who can play inside and outside. Lawrence Marsh and Terron Sanders start at tackle, and the position could get deeper if big-time recruits Dominique Easley and Sharrif Floyd can play right away. End Justin Trattou (7.0 career sacks) is the only proven pass rusher, and there will be some pressure on recruit Ronald Powell to play. Duke Lemmens may be Ur’s most improved player. Jeremy Brown, Moses Jenkins and early enrollee Joshua Shaw will battle for one cornerback spot. Janoris Jenkins is the other corner, and Ahmad Black and Will Hill are the safeties, in a talented secondary.

2010 Florida Special Teams:

Chris Rainey and Janoris Jenkins lead the list of punt returners, but Andre Debose may get a chance if his hamstring is 100 percent in the falL Rainey also worked as a kick returner in the spring, but Jeff Demps – who didn’t participate in the spring because he was running track – and Mike Gillislee also are in the mix. Chas Henry, entering his fourth year as UF’s punter, has a career average of 42.1 yards, fifth in school history. Kicker Caleb Sturgis has struggled with consistency (22 of 30, 73.3 percent).

2010 Florida Predictions:

It’s unfair not to expect a drop-off after losing one of the greatest college football players in history and several key cogs on one of the nation’s top defenses. Making things worse are road games at Tennessee, Alabama and Florida State. But the Gators are still a national title contender and have enough talent – albeit unproven – to win the East.
