Since there are no individual BCS odds to win a national title posted for any of these teams, they would all fall into the category of ‘the field` at plus 1500.

Sun Belt Football Previews

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders – Current odds to win a National Championship: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 10-3     Conference record 7-1        Home 6-1   Away 4-2

Middle Tennessee 2010 Outlook – QB Dwight Dasher returns to lead an offense that averaged 421 yards of total offense and 31 points again last season. As a two-way threat, Dasher threw for 2,789 yards and ran for 1,154 yards. He passed for 23 TD’s passes and scored 13 of his own running the ball. The defense is led by DE Jamari Lattimore and FS Jeremy Kellem. With talent on both sides of the ball, the Blue Raiders will be the team to beat in the conference this season.

Troy Trojans Pack - BSC Championship Odds:1500-1

2009- Overall record 9-4      Conference record 8-0         Home 5-1   Away 4-3

Troy 2010 Outlook – With the departure of Levi Brown, Jamie Hampton will take over as Troy’s starting quarterback this season. Hampton does have some experience as he started five games in 2008 before injuring his knee. The Trojans will have RB’s Shawn Southward and DuJuan Harris as well as WR Jerrel Jernigan back so their offensive production should not drop off too much. CB Bryan Willis leads a defense squad that will have quite a few new faces in the lineup. Despite the changes, the Trojans should still be Middle Tennessee’s primary competition for the Sun Belt title.

Louisiana-Monroe War Hawks - BCS Championship Odds:1500-1

2009- Overall record 6-6     Conference record 5-3         Home 4-1    Away 2-5

Louisiana-Monroe 2010 Outlook – This team has not had a winning record since 1993 as last year’s .500 finish was one of the best in recent memory. Todd Berry takes over as the new head coach after three years at UNLV as offensive coordinator. Back for the War Hawks on offense are QB Trey Revell, who will most likely share time with Cody Wells and RB Frank Goodin. The defense will have CB Darius Prelow to lead the secondary.

Florida Atlantic Owls - BCS Championship Odds:1500-1

2009- Overall record 5-7       Conference record 5-3        Home 2-3   Away 3-4

Florida Atlantic 2010 Outlook – QB Jeff Vancamp is back to lead the offense. Last season he started the final five games leading the Owls to a 3-2 record while throwing for 1,372 yards and 12 TD’s. RB Alfred Morris returns, coming off last season when he gained 1,392 yards on the ground. With their top two receivers from last year gone, Lester Jean will be the primary target in the passing game. The defense returns DT Kevin Cyrille and CB Travoris Hill.

Louisiana-Lafayette Rajin’ Cajuns - BCS Championship Odds: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 6-6       Conference record 4-4         Home 4-2     Away 2-4

Louisiana-Lafayette 2010 Outlook – QB Chris Masson will once again be the starter, but look for Blaine Gautier to come in and run 10-15 plays a game from a Wildcat formation. They also have RB Yobes Walker, WR Marlin Miller, and TE Ladarius Green back, making the Cajuns offense a potent one. DE’s Nate Douglas and Terrell Richardson will anchor the line, while CB’s Dwight Bentley and Orkeys Auriene will lead the secondary.

Arkansas State Red Wolves - BCS Championship Odds: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 4-8      Conference record 3-5         Home 3-2     Away 1-6

Arkansas State 2010 Outlook – QB Ryan Aplin and RB Derek Lawson played well in backup roles last season and should be even better this year as starters. Arkansas State has been plagued with a number of offseason issues as some key players from last year were dismissed from the team for various reasons. With quite a few new faces in the lineup on both sides of the ball it could be a long season for the Red Wolves.

Florida International Golden Panthers – BCS Championship Odds: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 3-9        Conference record 3-5      Home 2-3    Away 1-6

Florida International 2010 Outlook – This team will grapple with the loss of RB Kendall Berry, who was stabbed to death in the offseason. On the field, the quarterback position is still open as several players are still vying for the starting role. The defense will have to improve upon the 35.3 points per game they gave up last year if the Golden Panther are going to have any shot at a winning record in the conference.

North Texas Mean Green – BCS Championship Odds: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 2-10         Conference record 1-7            Home 1-5     Away 1-5

North Texas 2010 Outlook – Nathan Toon should get the nod as the starting quarterback, but Derek Thompson looked sharp at spring practice and could still figure in the mix. Whoever is the signal caller their primary job will be to get the ball to WR’s Jamaal Jackson and Darius Carey. This team’s defense is still suspect as it remains to be seen how much better they will than last year’s squad that gave up close to 36 points per game.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers - BCS Championship Odds: 1500-1

2009- Overall record 0-12             Conference record 0-8           Home 0-6     Away 0-6

Western Kentucky 2010 Outlook – Western Kentucky comes into this season with a 20 game losing streak and a new head coach, Willie Taggart. QB Matt Pelesasa will be the starter as the Hilltoppers switch over to a West Coast style offense. On defense they are switching back to a 4-3 scheme after deciding to scrap a 3-4 alignment that actually did more harm than good. The goal for this season is to ‘get off the schneid` with at least one conference win.
