This has been arguably the toughest division in the NFL in recent years. The Giants are coming off a 12-4 season and a division championship. The Eagles finished the season with a 9-6-1 record and squeaked into the playoffs. Dallas had a very disappointing season and despite having a very talented team they finished with a 9-7 record and were out of the playoffs. Washington started out the season well but struggle a bit late and ended with an 8-8 record in 2008. For the 2009 season the Philadelphia Eagles have the NFC East’s toughest schedule while the Washington Redskins have the easiest schedule in the division.

The Cowboys will face the Redskins in Dallas on November 22nd and the teams will meet again in Washington on December 27th. These 2 teams are two of biggest rivals in the league. The NFC East will be a hotly contested division in 2009. The Philadelphia Eagles will break through and win the division with an 11-5 record. The Dallas Cowboys will finish one game back with a 10-6 record. The Giants will be a solid team all year long but ultimately will finish at 9-7. Once again Washington will end up last in this division finishing the season at 7-9.

The team will have better chemistry with Owens on the club but will lose of explosiveness offensively without him. QB Tony Romo will have a big year and will benefit from a potent running game. The combination of Marion Barber and Felix Jones in the backfield along with an effective Tashard Choice gives Dallas one of the better running games in the league. WR Roy Williams will step up and be effective as the No.1 Wideout. The defense will be very solid up front but will give up some big plays with their young secondary. Dallas will improve from their record of a season ago and finish the season with a 10-6 record earning a wildcard spot.

They drafted WR Hakeem Nicks in the 1st Round this year but the offense will once again feel the impact of Plaxico’s departure. New York will be solid defensively and will have a good running game with bruising back Brandon Jacobs. Ultimately the Giants will not have quite enough offense to win the division. The Giants will finish 2 games back of the Eagles and the year with a record of 9-7.

The Eagles ended last year on a tear after starting the season off slow. First Round draft pick WR Jeremy Maclin will have an immediate impact for them. They also drafted DE Brian Orakpo in the 1st Round of this years draft. The defense will be very strong in 2009. QB Jason Cambell struggled as the season progressed last year and will once again have problems in 2009. Clinton Portis will not be as productive as years past and the Redskins will struggle some offensively. Washington will end the 2009 season with a disappointing 7-9 record.
